Step 1
🌙 What is Umrah?
Umrah is a sacred voluntary pilgrimage to Makkah that can be performed at any time of the year. It is an act of worship combining spiritual purification, forgiveness, and profound closeness to Allah ﷻ. While not obligatory like Hajj, it carries immense reward and is called the "minor pilgrimage."
وَأَتِمُّوا الْحَجَّ وَالْعُمْرَةَ لِلَّهِ
"And complete the Hajj and Umrah for Allah." — Surah Al-Baqarah 2:196
Forgiveness of Sins
The Prophet ﷺ said: "From one Umrah to another is expiation for whatever sins come between them." (Bukhari & Muslim)
Removes Poverty
"Follow up between Hajj and Umrah, for they remove poverty and sins as the bellows remove impurity from iron." (Tirmidhi)
Guest of Allah
The pilgrim who performs Umrah is honoured as a guest of Allah ﷻ. Their supplications are answered and their good deeds multiplied.
Spiritual Rebirth
Returning from Umrah is like being reborn — sins washed away, heart renewed, and connection to Allah strengthened.
The Four Steps of Umrah: (1) Wearing Ehram & Talbiyah · (2) Tawaf of the Kaaba · (3) Sa'i between Safa & Marwah · (4) Halq or Taqsir (shaving/trimming hair)
Step 2
🤲 Niyyah — The Intention
Before wearing the Ehram, make a sincere intention (Niyyah) in your heart for Umrah. You may also verbally pronounce it. The intention must be solely for the pleasure of Allah ﷻ.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أُرِيدُ الْعُمْرَةَ فَيَسِّرْهَا لِي وَتَقَبَّلْهَا مِنِّي
Transliteration
Allahumma inni ureedul 'umrata fa yassirha li wa taqabbalha minni

اے اللہ! میں عمرہ کا ارادہ کرتا ہوں، اسے میرے لیے آسان فرما اور مجھ سے قبول فرما

Talbiyah — Recited Throughout Ehram
لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ ۚ لَبَّيْكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ لَبَّيْكَ ۚ إِنَّ الْحَمْدَ وَالنِّعْمَةَ لَكَ وَالْمُلْكَ ۚ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ
Transliteration
Labbayk Allahumma labbayk, labbayk la shareeka laka labbayk, innal hamda wan-ni'mata laka wal-mulk, la shareeka lak

میں حاضر ہوں، اے اللہ، میں حاضر ہوں۔ تیرا کوئی شریک نہیں، میں حاضر ہوں۔ بے شک تعریف، نعمت اور بادشاہی تیری ہی ہے۔

Main haazir hoon ya Allah, main haazir hoon. Tera koi shareek nahi. Beshak tamam taareef, ne'mat aur badshahi teri hi hai.
Step 3
👕 Complete Ehram Guide
Ehram is the sacred state entered before Umrah. It involves special clothing and prohibitions. The Miqat is the boundary where Ehram must be worn before entering Makkah.

For Men (مرد)
Wear two white unstitched cloths — Izar (lower) & Rida (upper)
Bathe (Ghusl) before wearing Ehram — Sunnah
Apply perfume to body BEFORE wearing Ehram (not on cloth)
Wear sandals that expose the top of the foot
No stitched/sewn clothing of any kind
Do NOT cover the head (not even with umbrella touching head)
No cutting of nails or hair
No use of perfume/fragrance after Ehram
No sexual relations or romantic talk
No hunting or killing of any creature
No uprooting plants or trees within Haram
No arguing, fighting or obscene speech
Recite Talbiyah continuously — loudly is preferred for men
Do Ramal (brisk walk) in first 3 rounds of Tawaf
Expose right shoulder (Idtiba) during Tawaf

For Women (خواتین)
Wear normal modest Islamic clothing (no specific white required)
Bathe (Ghusl) before Ehram — highly recommended
Any colour is allowed — white, green, black etc.
Head must be covered with hijab
Socks/shoes covering feet are allowed
Remove Niqab (face veil) — face must remain uncovered in Ehram
No gloves — hands must remain bare
No cutting nails or hair
No perfume/fragrance after Ehram
No sexual relations or romantic talk
Menstruating women may wear Ehram but delay Tawaf
Recite Talbiyah softly (not aloud like men)
Women do NOT do Ramal or Idtiba in Tawaf
Women should walk at normal pace throughout

بِسْمِ اللهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللهِ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ
Transliteration
Bismillahi tawakkaltu alallahi, la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah
Urdu
اللہ کے نام سے، میں نے اللہ پر بھروسہ کیا، اللہ کے سوا کوئی طاقت نہیں
Hinglish
Allah ke naam se, main Allah par bharosa karta hoon. Allah ke siwa koi taqat nahi.

Dua When Boarding Transport (Airplane/Car)
سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هٰذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا لَمُنقَلِبُونَ
Transliteration
Subhaanal-lazee sakhkhara lanaa haazaa wa maa kunnaa lahu muqrineen. Wa inna ilaa rabbina lamunqaliboon.

پاک ہے وہ ذات جس نے ہمارے لیے اسے مسخر کیا اور ہم اسے قابو نہیں کر سکتے تھے، اور ہم اپنے رب کی طرف لوٹنے والے ہیں

Paak hai wo Allah jisne is sawari ko hamare liye aasaan banaya. Aur hum apne Rab ki taraf laute jane wale hain.

Dua When Reaching a Place / City
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَهَا وَخَيْرَ أَهْلِهَا وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِن شَرِّهَا وَشَرِّ أَهْلِهَا
Transliteration
Allahumma inni as'aluka khayrahaa wa khayra ahlihaa, wa a'oodhu bika min sharrihaa wa sharri ahlihaa
Urdu
اے اللہ! میں اس شہر اور اس کے باشندوں کی بھلائی مانگتا ہوں اور اس کی اور اس کے باشندوں کی برائی سے پناہ مانگتا ہوں
Hinglish
Ya Allah, is sheher ki aur is ke rehne walon ki bhalai ata farma. Aur is ki aur in ke shar se panaah deta hoon.
Step 5
🕌 Arrival in Makkah Al-Mukarramah
As you approach Makkah, increase your Talbiyah. Upon entering Masjid al-Haram, enter with your right foot and recite the Masjid entry dua. Your first sight of the Kaaba is a moment of answered prayers.

اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ
Transliteration
Allahumma iftah li abwaaba rahmatik

اے اللہ! میرے لیے اپنی رحمت کے دروازے کھول دے

First Sight of the Holy Kaaba — Dua
💡 Tip: When you first see the Kaaba, raise your hands and make any dua from your heart. It is narrated that this is a moment when duas are accepted. There is no specific confirmed hadith for a fixed dua, but the following is commonly recited:
اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ السَّلَامُ وَمِنْكَ السَّلَامُ فَحَيِّنَا رَبَّنَا بِالسَّلَامِ
Transliteration
Allahumma antas-salamu wa minkas-salamu fa hayyina rabbana bis-salam
Urdu
اے اللہ! تو سلامتی ہے اور سلامتی تجھ سے ہے، ہمیں سلامتی کے ساتھ زندہ رکھ
Hinglish
Ya Allah, tu hi salaamati hai aur salaamati teri hi taraf se hai. Hame salamati ke saath zindah rakh.
Step 6
🔁 Tawaf — Circumambulating the Kaaba
Tawaf means circling the Holy Kaaba 7 times in an anti-clockwise direction. It is the most sacred act of Umrah. Begin from Hajr-e-Aswad (the Black Stone) and keep the Kaaba on your left.
📌 Tawaf Rules
- Be in a state of Wudu (ablution)
- Start from Hajr-e-Aswad corner
- Keep the Kaaba on your LEFT side
- Complete 7 full circuits
- Men: Ramal (brisk walk) in rounds 1–3
- Men: Idtiba (expose right shoulder) throughout
- Women: Normal walking pace throughout
- End near Maqam Ibrahim for 2 Rakat
🤲 After Each Round
- Kiss or touch Hajr-e-Aswad if possible
- If unable, gesture towards it with right hand
- Recite Takbeer (Allahu Akbar) at Hajr-e-Aswad
- Touch the Rukn al-Yamani if possible (south-west corner)
- Between Rukn Yamani & Hajr-e-Aswad recite the special dua
- Make personal duas in your language too
📿 After Tawaf
- Pray 2 Rakat Namaz behind Maqam Ibrahim
- 1st Rakat: Surah Al-Kafirun after Fatiha
- 2nd Rakat: Surah Al-Ikhlas after Fatiha
- Drink Zamzam water facing Kaaba
- Make dua while drinking Zamzam
- Then proceed to Safa for Sa'i

Dua Between Rukn Yamani & Hajr-e-Aswad (Every Round)
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Transliteration
Rabbana aatina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil-akhirati hasanatan wa qina azaban-naar
Urdu
اے ہمارے رب! ہمیں دنیا میں بھلائی دے اور آخرت میں بھلائی دے اور ہمیں جہنم کے عذاب سے بچا
Hinglish
Ae hamare Rab, hame duniya mein bhalai de aur akhirat mein bhalai de aur hame jahannam ke azab se bacha.

Dua for Drinking Zamzam Water
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا وَرِزْقًا وَاسِعًا وَشِفَاءً مِن كُلِّ دَاءٍ
Transliteration
Allahumma inni as'aluka ilman naafi'an wa rizqan waasi'an wa shifaa'am min kulli daa'

اے اللہ! میں تجھ سے نفع بخش علم، وسیع رزق اور ہر بیماری سے شفاء مانگتا ہوں

🔥 7 Tawaf Round Duas — Full Details
These are the recommended duas for each of the 7 circuits of Tawaf. You may recite personal duas as well — the entire Tawaf is a time of open conversation with Allah ﷻ.
1
First Circuit — Faith & Belief
اللَّهُمَّ إِيمَانًا بِكَ وَتَصْدِيقًا بِكِتَابِكَ وَوَفَاءً بِعَهْدِكَ وَاتِّبَاعًا لِسُنَّةِ نَبِيِّكَ ﷺ
Allahumma imaanan bika wa tasdiiqan bi-kitaabika wa wafaa'an bi-ahdika wattibaa'an li-sunnati nabiyyika ﷺ
اے اللہ! تجھ پر ایمان لانے، تیری کتاب کی تصدیق کرنے، تیرے عہد کو پورا کرنے اور تیرے نبی ﷺ کی سنت کی پیروی کرتے ہوئے یہ طواف کرتا ہوں
Ya Allah, teri itaat mein, teri kitab ki tasdeeq karte hue aur tere nabi ﷺ ki sunnat ki pairawi karte hue yeh tawaaf karta hoon.

Second Circuit — Forgiveness & Mercy
اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَارْحَمْنِي وَعَافِنِي وَاعْفُ عَنِّي وَارْزُقْنِي
Allahummaghfir li warhamni wa 'aafinee wa'fu 'anni warzuqni
اے اللہ! مجھے معاف فرما، مجھ پر رحم فرما، مجھے عافیت دے، مجھ سے درگزر فرما اور مجھے رزق دے
Ya Allah, mujhe maaf farma, mujh par rehm farma, mujhe aafiyat de, mujhse darguzar farma aur mujhe rizq ata farma.

Third Circuit — Goodness in Both Worlds
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Rabbana aatina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil-akhirati hasanatan wa qina azaban-naar
اے ہمارے رب! ہمیں دنیا میں بھلائی اور آخرت میں بھلائی دے اور جہنم کے عذاب سے بچا
Ae hamare Rab, duniya mein bhi bhalai aur akhirat mein bhi bhalai ata farma aur jahannam ke azab se bacha.

Fourth Circuit — Accepted Worship
اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ حَجًّا مَبْرُورًا وَسَعْيًا مَشْكُورًا وَذَنْبًا مَغْفُورًا وَعَمَلًا صَالِحًا مَقْبُولًا
Allahumma ij'alhu hajjan mabrooron wa sa'yan mashkooran wa zanban maghfooran wa amalan saalihan maqboolon
اے اللہ! اسے حج مبرور بنا، مشکور سعی بنا، گناہ معاف فرما اور عمل صالح قبول فرما
Ya Allah, is Umrah ko maqbool bana, sa'i ko mashkoor bana, gunaah maaf farma aur nek amal qubool farma.

Fifth Circuit — For Parents & Family
اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِوَالِدَيَّ وَارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا وَاغْفِرْ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ وَالْمُسْلِمَاتِ
Allahummaghfir li-waalidayya warhamhuma kamaa rabbayanee sagheeron, waghfir lil-muslimiena wal-muslimat
اے اللہ! میرے والدین کو معاف فرما اور ان پر رحم فرما جیسا انہوں نے مجھے بچپن میں پالا، اور تمام مسلمانوں کو بھی معاف فرما
Ya Allah, mere walidain ko maaf farma aur unpar rehm farma jaise unhone mujhe bachpan mein pala. Aur tamam muslimeen ko bhi maaf farma.

Sixth Circuit — Seek Paradise
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْجَنَّةَ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ النَّارِ يَا اللهُ يَا رَحْمَنُ يَا رَحِيمُ
Allahumma inni as'alukal-jannata wa a'oodhu bika minan-naar ya Allah ya Rahmanu ya Raheem
اے اللہ! میں تجھ سے جنت مانگتا ہوں اور جہنم سے پناہ مانگتا ہوں، اے اللہ، اے رحمان، اے رحیم
Ya Allah, main tujhse jannat maangta hoon aur jahannam se panaah maangta hoon. Ya Allah, ya Rahman, ya Raheem.

Seventh Circuit — Protection & Completion
اللَّهُمَّ أَعِذْنِي مِنَ النَّارِ وَأَدْخِلْنِي الْجَنَّةَ مَعَ الْأَبْرَارِ وَاغْفِرْ لِي وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَ الْحِسَابِ
Allahumma a'izni minan-naari wa adkhilnil-jannata ma'al-abraar, waghfir li wa lil-mu'miniena yawmal-hisaab
اے اللہ! مجھے جہنم سے بچا اور مجھے نیک لوگوں کے ساتھ جنت میں داخل فرما، اور حساب کے دن مجھے اور تمام مومنوں کو معاف فرما
Ya Allah, mujhe jahannam se bacha aur neek logon ke saath jannat mein daakhil farma. Hisaab ke din mujhe aur tamam mumineen ko maaf farma.
Step 8
🏃 Sa'i — Safa & Marwah
Sa'i commemorates the search of Hazrat Hajirah (AS) for water for her infant son Ismail (AS). Walk 7 times between Safa and Marwah — starting from Safa. Men jog between the green fluorescent lights.

Dua When Climbing Mount Safa (Beginning Sa'i)
إِنَّ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةَ مِن شَعَائِرِ اللَّهِ ۖ أَبْدَأُ بِمَا بَدَأَ اللَّهُ بِهِ
Transliteration
Innas-safaa wal-marwata min sha'aa'irillah. Abda'u bimaa bada'allahu bih.

بے شک صفا اور مروہ اللہ کی نشانیوں میں سے ہیں۔ میں اس چیز سے شروع کرتا ہوں جس سے اللہ نے شروع کیا
Hinglish
Beshak Safa aur Marwah Allah ki nishaniyon mein se hain. Main wahan se shuru karta hoon jahan se Allah ne shuru kiya.

Dua at Safa — Face Kaaba & Raise Hands
اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
Transliteration
Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar. La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la shareeka lah, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu yuhyi wa yumeetu wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadeer.
Urdu
اللہ سب سے بڑا ہے، اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں، وہ اکیلا ہے، اس کا کوئی شریک نہیں، اسی کی بادشاہت ہے، وہی زندگی اور موت دیتا ہے
Hinglish
Allah sabse bada hai. Sirf Allah hi ibadat ke laiq hai, koi shareek nahi. Badshahi usi ki hai, woh hi jilaata aur maarta hai.
📋 Sa'i Quick Guide
- Safa → Marwah counts as 1 trip. Marwah → Safa counts as 2nd. Total 7 trips.
- End on Marwah (7th trip finishes at Marwah)
- Men jog between the GREEN fluorescent lights on the ground
- Women walk at normal pace throughout (no jogging)
- Make dua at both Safa and Marwah each time
- Recite Quran, do Dhikr or personal duas during the walk
- No specific dua for each lap — make any dua you wish
Step 9
✂️ Halq & Taqsir — Completing Umrah
After completing Sa'i, men must either shave their head (Halq — preferred) or trim their hair (Taqsir). Women only trim a small amount. This act officially completes Umrah and releases you from the state of Ehram.
👨 Men — Halq (Shaving)
- Shaving the entire head is MORE virtuous (Prophet ﷺ made dua 3 times for those who shave)
- Trimming is also valid but less rewarded
- Face Qibla if possible while shaving
- After Halq, Ehram restrictions are lifted
👩 Women — Taqsir Only
- Women ONLY trim — never shave the head
- Trim approximately the length of a fingertip (about 1 inch / 2–3 cm)
- Cut from the tips of the hair — any part of the head
- After Taqsir, Ehram restrictions are lifted

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِلْمُحَلِّقِينَ وَلِلْمُقَصِّرِينَ
Transliteration
Allahummaghfir lil-muhalliqueena wal-muqasssireen

اے اللہ! سر منڈوانے والوں اور بال کٹوانے والوں کو معاف فرما
Hinglish
Ya Allah, sar mundwane walon aur baal katwane walon ko maaf farma.

Alhamdulillah! Your Umrah is now complete. You are released from Ehram. Continue your stay in Makkah with worship, Tawaf, and abundant dhikr.
Step 10
🌹 Visiting Madinah Al-Munawwarah
Visiting Madinah and offering Salaam to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is among the most honoured acts a Muslim can perform. Though not part of Umrah rituals, it is highly recommended. 40 prayers (Arba'een) in Masjid al-Nabawi is a great Sunnah.

اللَّهُمَّ هَذَا حَرَمُ نَبِيِّكَ فَاجْعَلْهُ وِقَايَةً لِي مِنَ النَّارِ وَأَمَانًا مِنَ الْعَذَابِ
Transliteration
Allahumma haadhaa haramu nabiyyika faj'alhu wiqaayatan lee minan-naari wa amaanan minal-'azaab
Urdu
اے اللہ! یہ تیرے نبی کا حرم ہے، اسے میرے لیے جہنم سے ڈھال اور عذاب سے امان بنا دے
Hinglish
Ya Allah, yeh tera nabi ka haram hai. Ise mere liye jahannam se dhaal aur azab se amaan bana de.

Salaam on the Prophet ﷺ at the Rawdah
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حَبِيبَ اللَّهِ
Transliteration
As-salaamu alayka ya Rasoolallah. As-salaamu alayka ya nabiyyallah. As-salaamu alayka ya habeeballah.

آپ پر سلام ہو اے اللہ کے رسول، آپ پر سلام ہو اے اللہ کے نبی، آپ پر سلام ہو اے اللہ کے محبوب
Hinglish
Aap par salaam ho ya Rasoolallah. Aap par salaam ho ya Nabiyullah. Aap par salaam ho ya Habeebullah.
Masjid al-Nabawi
1 prayer = 1,000 prayers. Pray 40 prayers (Arba'een) for immunity from hypocrisy & hellfire.
Rawdah Visit
Visiting the Rawdah (the garden between Prophet's ﷺ house & mimbar) is like visiting a garden of Paradise.
Jannatul Baqi
Visit the blessed cemetery of Jannatul Baqi — greet the Sahabah and make dua for them.
Mount Uhud
Visit the martyrs of Uhud. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Uhud is a mountain that loves us and we love it."

Transliteration
Allahumma inna hazal bayta baytuka wa ana abduka wabnu abdika fahmilni 'ala yusrin wa yassir liyal-awdata ilayh

اے اللہ! یہ گھر تیرا ہے اور میں تیرا بندہ ہوں، مجھے آسانی سے واپس لے جا اور میری دوبارہ یہاں آنے کی آسانی فرما

Allahumma inni as'aluka khayral mawliji wa khayral makhraj. Bismillahi walajna wa bismillahi kharajna wa 'alallahi rabbina tawakkalna.
